7:00 pm Thursday, 18th April at Light of Christ
On this evening we commemorate Jesus's act of love and servanthood by washing his disciples' feet after the Last Supper, as recorded in the 13th chapter of John's Gospel. "Maundy" comes down to us from an old English word meaning "commandment", and refers to John 13:34 where Jesus says, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you."
Our rector will follow that example and wash the feet of the congregation as a sign of love and obedience.
